MEN'S FIRESIDE CONVERSATIONS

Event Background

The Men’s Fireside Conversations is an event premised on the African methodology of passing wisdom from one generation to the next around a fireplace, mostly through teachings and folklore from elders.

Maintaining the closely-knit family fabric, which became part of the broader community tapestry upon which society’s moral code was formed, was the outcome of such conversations.

Society, especially young men, has become bereft of role models who not only espouse the moral code of society but actively participate in programmes to pass it on to those who come after them. This event seeks to turn the tide against this moral decline.

Event Objective

Theme

the Theme, “creating better men for a better society” is a practical call to action.

Current Situation

The reality is that, given the scourge of GBV, society has been focused on equipping the girlchild with coping skills for a manled onslaught, without any - or very little - focus on actually changing men to be better.

Mission

To ensure that we commence an on-going programme to complement the excellent work that is being done by various entities whose programmes are geared towards helping the girlchild, by creating better men.

Event Activities

The event will be a highly interactive gathering of high-profile leaders in various fields who will share wisdom with a group of young men, broadcast on various platforms so as to engage millions of others who cannot be physically accommodated at the venue. Our partnership with one of the country’s leading media houses, Arena Holdings, as well as SABC radio stations, presents massive coverage for all our other partners.
